Things To Do In Paris In Summer By The Seine

Things to do in Paris in summer are plentiful, and if the sun is shining, what better way is there to spend a day than on the Paris Plages? Yes, for a month each summer the city has its very own beaches. While it’s true that Paris has not generally been noted as a beach resort, the city’s reputation in this area is growing each year. If, on the other hand, the sun shows her capricious nature, be aware that the Grand Hotel du Bel Air will provide you with an umbrella!

All The Fun Of The Seaside In The Centre Of Paris

Each year it grows bigger and better. What began as a way of allowing Parisians who couldn’t get away on holiday to enjoy Seine-side vacation pleasures right on their doorstep has become a beloved tradition that is now in its 13th year. The areas of the Louvre/Pont de Sully, Pont de la Gare and the Bassin de la Villette become beach resorts for four weeks from July 20th, with the aid of thousands of tons of sand specially shipped in by barge.
The UNESCO World Heritage site embankments of the Seine become a pedestrian only zone and parasols, lounge chairs and beach toys appear as if by magic. You can enjoy table football, tai chi lessons, mini-golf, BMX biking, beach volleyball, and boules. There are play areas for the kids, swimming pools suspended over the Seine and free concerts in the evenings. Naturally, a wide range of water sports are available. Just the thing for cooling off after a snooze on a lounger in the sun!
